To attend the 19th World Jamboree it cost each Scout approximately £2.500. To reach this target both Caroline Collins (the other representative from Gillingham District) and I needed to do many fund raising events. These included:
Fun days
District dances
Raffles
Quiz sheets
And much more!
Another way money was raised for the Kent Contingent and also other scouts from around the would reach the 19th World Jamboree was to become a "friend of the Jamboree". This cost the sum of £10, but it was well worth the amount because you receive newsletters about the Kent Contingent and the Jamboree itself, a post card from the Jamboree site in Chile and also a final report when we returned to the UK. If you belonged to a scout troop or group this was a very good way to inform them about the Jamboree, and also get them interested in the next World Jamboree in 2003/04. It is planned to have another "friend of the Jamboree" information pack when the 2003/04 Kent Contingent are formed
